Saving Babies
Thank you for doing this story. As most grieving parents will tell you, it is so hard to get Media coverage of our Babies, and especially if it is SIDS. It has been just over 2 years for us since we lost our Sommer. Not a day goes by that I don't cry for her. For over a year, I sat every night and held her urn just so I could say goodnight, just to feel close to her. Not an hour goes by that I don't think of her. Her big brother, who just turned 5, still asks why " my baby sister had to die". He talks to her, play with her in his imagination, although I am convinced she talks and plays back with him. He wasn't quite 3 when she died, yet she had the biggest impact on his life, probably the biggest until he has his own children. I truly believe that, and he wasn't even 3! Why is our government downplaying SIDS? More Babies die of SIDS than all other causes combined! We are not just talking about griving parents, or dead Babies( please forgive my gruffness, but someone has to put dome shock into this. Yes, DEAD BABIES). We are also talking about griving siblings, who encounter the worst possible thing that can happen to a human being, Death, at such young ages it scars them for life. Grieving grandparents, aunts, uncles, friends, ect. Please lets all stand up and tell the U.S. Government that this has to end. We have made such strides in cancer, heart disease, diabetes, ect., yet SIDS is still whispered about, I compare it to cancer 40 years ago. It is whispered, never said aloud. People avoid the survivors, not sure what, if anything to say. Well, it is time for all of us to stand up and Scream. I am really tired of writing to the families of infants I see in the papers expressing my condolances for their loss, in my lifetime I hope to eventually never write anouther note. If you are behind me, please email me @ maxlallowolfgang@windstream.net. God Bless all of you, thank you for letting me vent. April Poole
